The death toll after severe flooding in South Africa continued to rise on Wednesday. Around 50 people are reported to have died in the eastern parts of South Africa, according to authorities in the Eastern Cape province.

Among other things, a school bus was swept away in a flood in the city of Mthatha. Remains of four children have been found in searches, but several children are still missing according to governor Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane.

Floods, mainly due to heavy rainfall, cause recurring natural disasters in the southeastern parts of South Africa.
