It was over the weekend that several states in the USA were hit by severe storms and tornadoes. In the state of Kansas, eight people died in a traffic accident involving more than 50 vehicles. The accident was caused by poor visibility during a "severe sandstorm", according to the police.
In Oklahoma, over 200 houses were damaged or destroyed in connection with forest fires and strong winds, according to the rescue service.
The extreme weather affected an area where more than 100 million people live, from the Canadian border in the north to Texas in the south.
