"The victim was in an extremely critical condition. Doctors fought for his life but unfortunately could not save him," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram on Monday.
Seven more people are still being treated in hospital after the attack in southwest Kyiv.
The perpetrator first opened fire on the street and then barricaded himself in a nearby shopping center, where he was later shot dead by police.
