Eleven people died from the smoke that spread when the fire raged on Tuesday evening. The health department announced on Friday that two more people have died in hospital since then.
The building, located in the city of Tuzla in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, houses a senior citizens' residence. The top floors are home to the elderly, the sick and those with mobility difficulties, according to Bosnian media reports. The fire broke out on the seventh floor.
The victims were seven women and six men, between 67 and 96 years old.
About ten people are still being treated in hospital, including one police officer. Three of them are in intensive care.
