The death toll after the school collapse in Indonesian Sidoarjo has risen to 37 since rescue workers found more dead in the rubble. More than 20 people are still missing.

The collapse on eastern Java occurred on Monday when the students at the Muslim boarding school gathered for prayer. Those affected are mainly boys aged 12–18 years.

141 affected have been found. 104 have survived and 37 have perished, says the head of the authorities' rescue effort.

The effort is described as ”60 percent complete”. The hope is that the rescue work will be sufficiently clear during Sunday to be able to determine how many in total perished in the accident.
