More than 150 people have been found dead after the floods in the Nigerian city of Mokwa, says a spokesperson for the state rescue service Niger State Emergency Management Agency on Saturday.
They warn that the figure may rise further.
The floods were triggered by a downpour on Thursday that lasted for several hours. The heavy rain caused a dam to burst in a neighboring town, which further worsened the situation in Mokwa.
According to the Nigerian rescue service, 265 houses are completely destroyed and two bridges have been swept away. At least 3,000 people have fled the floods.
