Four people have been killed and six have been injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine's Kharkiv region, Governor Oleh Synehubov said on Telegram.

The Ukrainian emergency services describe the attack last night as "massive." Several buildings are said to have been damaged and a large fire is said to have broken out.

The Ukrainian capital Kyiv was also attacked on Tuesday night, according to the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Dnipro, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Zhytomyr were also attacked. Russia attacked with almost 300 attack drones, 18 ballistic missiles and seven cruise missiles, he stated on X.

Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure as winter temperatures have dropped.

“Again, the main target of the attack was our energy facilities and substations,” Zelenskyy writes.

However, the deadly rocket attack on Kharkiv was directed at a postal terminal "without any military purpose whatsoever," Zelenskyy said.
