At least three people have died and more than 20 have been reported injured after a building caught fire in Budapest, Hungary.

The fire broke out on Friday morning in a building temporarily housing workers in the Hungarian capital.

Rescue efforts were extensive at the scene of the fire in a western suburb of the city. The two-story building was engulfed in flames, according to Hungary's emergency management agency.

An explosion is believed to have started the fire, according to police. There are also reports of several irregularities in the building, including that the use of gas appliances was against the rules.
