The German Ski Association, which includes biathlon, has decided to honor Laura Dahlmeier with an award in her name to be presented to an outstanding young female or male active in the ski sports.
"It is deliberately open to all disciplines, not just biathlon. We of course discussed this with Laura's parents in advance and are very grateful that they support this idea," Stefan Schwarzbach, who sits on the board of the ski association, told DPA.
Dahlmeier, a two-time Olympic champion and seven-time world champion, died in a climbing accident in Pakistan on July 28.
