Five people have lost their lives and over 60 injured after a gas explosion in a restaurant in Turkey, writes the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on X.
The explosion occurred southeast of the city of Izmir, which is located on the country's west coast. According to the Anatolia news agency, the explosion was heard several miles away.

The authorities have detained a person suspected of being responsible for the incident.
