This weekend's Davis Cup match between Canada and Israel in Halifax will be played without an audience for security reasons.

Gavin Ziv, CEO of the Canadian tennis association, says the decision is "a great disappointment" but the safety of athletes, audience and officials comes first.

"Unfortunately, playing without an audience is the only way to protect everyone involved and at the same time ensure that the match takes place", says Ziv.

Recently, over 400 Canadian athletes demanded that the David Cup match be cancelled in protest against Israel's war in Gaza.
