David Tomasek close to returning - trained in Karlstad

Czech forward star David Tomasek trained on the ice in Karlstad on Saturday, writes Värmlands Folkblad. Now Färjestad fans are waiting for the delayed Christmas present and for it to be made official that he is returning from the NHL.

Last season's points league winner in the SHL took a chance in the NHL, but his stint at Stanley Cup finalist Edmonton has not been successful.

Tomasek has been given a hidden role and has only played in 22 games with three goals and two assists.

On Monday, Edmonton officially announced that Tomasek had been placed on the waivers list with the intention of terminating his contract.

According to Värmlands Folkblad, he was seen at a restaurant in Karlstad on Boxing Day, and on Saturday he trained on the ice in the home arena.

No official announcement regarding Tomasek has yet been communicated by Färjestad.

In two seasons in Färjestad, so far 99 regular-season games in the SHL, David Tomasek has scored 102 points (49 goals + 53 assists).

He won World Cup gold with the Czech Republic in 2024. Tomasek has a current contract with Färjestad.

Färjestad will meet Leksand away on Sunday.
