David Rumbutis becomes first Swedish man to reach World Gymnastics Championships uneven bars final

David Rumbutis has made Swedish gymnastics history. For the first time, a Swedish male gymnast will compete in a World Championships final on the uneven bars, according to the Swedish Gymnastics Federation.

Rumbuti's series earned him 14.5 points, including 9.0 for execution, securing him the eighth and final place in Rotterdam.

Sweden has not had a male gymnast in a World Championships final since 1992, when Johan Jonasson reached the vault final, the Swedish Gymnastics Federation writes in a press release.

The final on the horizontal bar will be next Sunday, October 25, at 2 p.m.

Correction: An earlier version of the text gave an incorrect score for Rumbuti.
