The 27-year-old defenseman has signed a three-year contract, announces Linköping.
"In David, we get a very skilled defenseman, good size, good skating, play-wise skilled and very fine offensive qualities, at the same time as he has developed his defensive play in recent times", says Linköping's sports manager Peter Jakobsson to the club's website.
Bernhardt made 32 points (10 goals+22 assists) in Modo, which was relegated from SHL last season.
He replaces Linus Hultström, who was SHL's highest-scoring defenseman with 42 points (11+31).
The 32-year-old Hultström utilized a clause for moving abroad. No new club address has been made public.
