The 51-year-old Englishman, who was knighted last year and is now Sir David Beckham, was honored with a ceremony in Hollywood on Friday, hours before the United States' World Cup opening match against Paraguay, a 4-1 win, later that evening local time.
"I have to admit that all of this feels surreal," David Beckham said during the ceremony, according to ESPN.
Beckham's star on the Walk of Fame was the 2,849th, and he is the first football player to receive one, according to ESPN.
David Beckham ended his career in 2013 after playing for the England national team and clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
