The Swedish Arts Council has been hit by a data breach, but cannot say anything about possible motives. It has been reported to the police, says Chief Legal Officer Greta von Rosen Stövind.

The sites that have been down since Friday morning are the Swedish Arts Council's website, the online service for applying for and reporting grants, Bokstart and the website for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which Dagens Nyheter was first to report. Greta von Rosen Stövind cannot say anything about possible motives.

"I don't dare to speak out about what we know or what we believe," she tells TT.

–We do not have any classified information and not much personal data either because it is organizations that apply for money from us.

The Arts Council has set up a temporary website and emphasizes that those actors who have deadlines for applications and reports will have these moved forward. However, payments will not be delayed, according to Greta von Rosen Stövind.
