It's star-studded this week on St Andrews Old Course, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns, the three Scottish courses sharing the week's European Championship tournament.
Swedish-packed as well, for that matter.
Among top names like Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, and Tyrrell Hatton, no fewer than seven blue-and-yellow golfers were seen – and one of them impressed extra much during the first day's play.
Last year, Jens Dantorp reached his best placement so far on the European Championship tour, now DP World Tour, when he came second in Belgian Antwerp behind fellow countryman Simon Forsström.
If, and when, a first win comes, it's written in the stars, but the 35-year-old has at least got a good start. Nine birdies and one bogey gave eight under par for the day and a spot just behind the very best. Dantorp, who played on Kingsbarns, is tied sixth and top Swedish player in the starting field.
Thursday's dominant player was, however, Darren Fichardt. The South African did make two bogeys, but played brilliantly otherwise. Two eagles and nine birdies gave 61 strokes for the day and a one-stroke lead over Cameron John, Australia. The top duo also played on Kingsbarns on Thursday.
All players will play one round on each of the three courses before the cut is made after Saturday. The final round on Sunday will be played on St Andrews Old Course.
