Malmö FF's CEO Niclas Carlnén confirms to TT that Christian Eriksen, who left Manchester United in the spring, is training with the Allsvenskan club on Thursday. The site Gasetten was the first to report on the information.
The possibility of registering new players for the Allsvenskan squad expired on August 31. MFF has also already submitted a complete Europa League squad and the registration of players in that squad expired on September 2, writes Gasetten.
"Helping him"
According to Carlnén, work is not being done at present on a recruitment of Eriksen for the future.
No, we have a squad that we believe is sufficient now for the autumn and have not had such a dialogue previously, but what happens in the future I have no idea about.
Sports manager Daniel Andersson to Expressen:
It's not something I've thought about, how he could fit in with us. Right now, we're helping him and it's a fun and inspiring thing for our players.
Eriksen is said to have asked MFF star Anders "AC" Christiansen if he could train with the team. They know each other from the national team and Eriksen was also a support to Christiansen when the MFF player was affected by heart problems in 2023. Eriksen was affected by similar heart problems during a European Championship match at home at Parken in Copenhagen in 2021.
Played for Tottenham
The MFF players have been given three days off after Thursday's training. The club's communications manager tells Sydsvenskan that Eriksen is only training with Malmö on Thursday.
Christian Eriksen has also played for Ajax, Tottenham, Inter and Brentford during his career. He is credited with 46 goals in 144 A-international matches for Denmark.
