On May 21 and 22, Sweden will host the NATO Foreign Ministers' meeting. But already on Saturday, a larger, permitted demonstration against NATO will be held, and several smaller demonstrations are expected during the coming week.
According to police chief Mattias Sigfridsson, many want to take the opportunity to "make their voices heard" while international press is present.
"There are also demonstrations that are not NATO-themed. There is both support for Gaza and for Ukraine. They relate to conflicts around the world," he says.
The police in the southern region will receive help from other parts of Sweden and Denmark.
Overall, we feel confident that we will ensure the NATO summit is safe and secure.
