The Danish pension fund Akademikerpension plans to sell off its holdings in U.S. government bonds in January, the fund's investment manager told Bloomberg.

The pension fund, which manages Danish pension savings worth $25 billion, had $100 million invested in US government bonds at the end of last year.

"The US fundamentally does not have a good credit rating, and US government finances are not sustainable in the long term," investment manager Anders Schelde told Bloomberg.

Schelde added that US President Donald Trump's statement regarding Greenland contributed to the decision to sell the bonds.
