Danish Michelin-starred restaurant robbed of 87 bottles of wine worth 1 million kroner

A luxury restaurant in Denmark has been robbed of wines worth one million Danish kroner in a brazen heist, Danish TV2 reports.

It was on Wednesday evening that a trio of wine thieves struck at the Michelin-starred restaurant Frederikshøj in Aarhus.

According to restaurateur Wassim Hallal, the thieves got in by cutting a hole in a glass window that was just big enough for one of them to crawl through.

Once inside, a thief took advantage of a blind spot in the alarm system and scurried back and forth across the floor with a total of 87 bottles of red wine.

“It was straight out of the Olsen Gang,” says Wassim Hallal, referring to the Danish model for Sweden’s Jönsson Gang.

The thieves knew exactly what they were after. Some of the bottles were worth 90,000 kronor each and are also impossible to replace, according to Hallal.

“It is a big loss for our wine list, unfortunately.”
