"I am filled with sadness and anger that a young Swedish man has lost his life in Copenhagen during what should have been a peaceful World Cup event. My warmest thoughts go to his family, friends and our entire Swedish brother country. May the guilty be judged harshly and fairly," he writes in a post on X.
On Tuesday, a Swedish man in his 30s was attacked at a World Cup event in Copenhagen. The Swede was seriously injured and died from his injuries. The man was a police officer but was off duty at the time of the incident.
According to witnesses, the fight broke out during a goal celebration and the suspect allegedly punched the victim, causing serious injuries.
The suspect turned himself in on Friday morning after police released a photo of him on Wednesday. The man denies the crime.
