Denmark's Authors' Association advises its members against entering into agreements with the Swedish hybrid publishing conglomerate Hoi Publishing's Danish company.

The reason given is that Hoi has liquidity problems and that 33 Danish authors currently have financial claims against the company, writes SVT's "Cultural News".

Hoi Publishing was Sweden's first hybrid publisher and is still one of the largest. In 2017, the business expanded to Denmark. The Danish Authors' Association criticized the publisher already last autumn, when it concerned a contract that Hoi wanted to sign with its authors, a contract that the Authors' Association considered invalid in Denmark.

Hybrid publishers offer writers the opportunity to publish their books and receive help with professional editing and marketing – for a fee. Previously, for example, the Swedish hybrid publisher Lava has also been criticized for its working methods and pricing, and the Swedish Authors' Association issued a warning last year against entering into agreements with the publisher.
