67-year-old Klette, who was arrested in 2024 after decades on the run, has been convicted, according to German media, of a series of armed robberies committed while she was living undercover.

The “RAF pensioner,” as she has been called in the German media, was formerly a member of the notorious Red Army Faction (RAF) terrorist group, also known as the Baader-Meinhof gang. The left-wing extremist group terrorized West Germany in the 1970s and 1980s with bombings, kidnappings and murders.

In addition to the armed robberies Daniela Klette has now been convicted of, she is also charged with, among other things, firing a machine gun at the then-US embassy in Bonn in 1991.

When she was arrested in 2024, she was living undercover in Berlin, where she gave math lessons to neighborhood children.
