Australian Matthew Denny won after sending the winning throw, a fine 68.97, in the final round. Already in his first throw, Denny reached 67.33, which would also have been enough for victory.

The 32-year-old Swede's discus landed at best on 67.06, which provided a fine response in the season.
One who was missing in the starting lineup was the world's best discus thrower. Lithuanian Mykolas Alekna broke his own world record last month when he became the first to exceed the 75-meter mark (75.56) during a gala in Ramona, USA. The competition has, however, faced much criticism since it takes place on an open field with extreme and very favorable winds for discus.
For comparison, Daniel Ståhl's Swedish record stands at 71.86, a mark from the summer of 2019.
Last year, Ståhl reached a maximum of 69.03. When he finished seventh in the OS final in Paris, he threw 66.95.
Andreas Kramer also made a really fine outdoor debut in Doha. In a tough 800-meter race, the Swedish record holder finished sixth on a strong 1.44.84. Tshepiso Masalela won on 1.43.11.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Carl Bengtström finished fourth on 49.87, about half a second behind the winner, Alessandro Sibilio (49.32).
