Shanti Roney will portray both the boy, the mother, and the seven fathers in the performance, which is designed as a long monologue, writes DN Kultur.

This is a huge challenge, I've never done a monologue on stage before, says Roney to the newspaper.

The book is a coming-of-age story about a boy who lives with his mother in focus. Over seven years, as many fathers pass by. The book has, among other things, been awarded the August Prize 2024 and topped the lending list at the largest libraries last year.

Director Eva Dahlman has been commissioned to break down the book's 400 pages into a two-hour-long monolog. She has previously adapted two other novels, Lena Andersson's "Egenmäktigt förfarande" and Fredrik Backman's "Britt-Marie var här", reports DN.

”Damn Guys” will premiere at Scalateatern in Stockholm on January 22, 2026.
