On Tuesday, clubs in the Damallsvenskan and Elitettan received the news that the top division's title partner, OBOS, will not extend its contract. It has already been confirmed that the umbrella organisation Elite Football Women (EFD) main sponsor Svenska Spel will not extend its deal.
Many of our clubs are already in a troubled situation. Then it will come as a shock when we tell them that we do not have ready agreements for next year, EFD chair Ylva Johansson told DN.
The women's national team's TV contract is also about to expire, but work on a new one is well underway. Discussions are also under way regarding new sponsorship partnerships.
"We are working very actively to secure commercial partnerships. But it is somewhat up to us how well we manage to package the product we have," Johansson said.
