We must perform significantly more maturely than this, says Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl after the loss on away ice.
The German Draisaitl and his superstar colleague Connor McDavid had otherwise led the way for Edmonton during the two first periods.
Draisaitl made it 1–0 and then responded with assists for both 2–1 and 3–1. The Canadian McDavid was credited with an assist on Edmonton's two first goals.
Then Dallas' Finnish players stepped forward in the third period.
After only 32 seconds, Miro Heiskanen scored 2–3. Three and a half minutes later, Mikael Granlund equalized, and after 5.58, Matt Duchene – assisted by the Finns Roope Hintz and Mikko Rantanen – scored the go-ahead goal to 4–3.
All three goals came in power play.
Heiskanen and Rantanen are our McDavid and Draisaitl, says Dallas coach Pete DeBoer according to Aftonbladet.
When it was all over, Dallas had scored two more goals. The last goal in an empty net was scored by Esa Lindell – from Finland.
We must get better at killing penalties, it's not harder than that. We must win the battles, block shots, do whatever it takes in box play. We didn't do that well enough, says Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse.
Even the next match in the best-of-seven series is played in Dallas, on Saturday night. In the other semifinal, Florida leads 1–0 in matches against Carolina.
