Dallas has reached the semifinals for three years in a row, but has missed the Stanley Cup finals every season.
Now coach Peter DeBoer gets fired.
"After careful consideration, we believe that a new voice is needed in the locker room to achieve the goal of winning the Stanley Cup", says Dallas general manager Jim Nill to the NHL club's website.
DeBoer has coached Dallas for three seasons and had one year left on the contract.
For the past three years, the team has reached the semifinals in the playoffs. This year, as well as last year, Dallas was eliminated by Edmonton - in 2023, it was Vegas that eliminated the team.
No replacement for the coach position has been presented.
