Saudi Arabia has been hit by repeated attacks from Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels, which have intensified in recent weeks.
The rally was scheduled to take place from January 1 to 15. The location where the competition will instead be held will be announced in the coming days.
However, Saudi Arabia will host the Dakar Rally again in 2028.
At this year’s Dakar Rally, Mattias Ekström finished third overall. The Swedish veteran won the most stages in the competition, four.
