Rasmus Dahlin was back in Buffalo after taking a break to be with his fiancée, then there was a point and a win straight away against Detroit.

Buffalo has had a tough season so far in the NHL, and if Dahlin's absence has shown anything, it's that the team needs its Swedish team captain. During Dahlin's three-game absence, Buffalo has accumulated a -9 goal differential.

Now he's back, and then came the first victory in two weeks.

Dahlin was noted for two assists, the second of which came in overtime when the Swede and Tage Thompson set up American Mattias Samuelsson's decisive 5–4 goal.

Swedish star Lucas Raymond accounted for three assists for his Detroit team.

Rasmus Dahlin announced his comeback as recently as Saturday. He was home in Sweden for a week to be with his fiancée, who is recovering from serious health problems.

Buffalo is still at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 16 points in 18 games played.
