Dag Blanck receives this year's Grand History Prize of 100,000 kronor. The prize, which is Sweden's largest within the field of history, is awarded by Sörmland Museum and Nyköping Culture and Recreation Committee.
Dag Blanck is a professor of North American Studies at Uppsala University and is awarded for his ability to put current events in the USA into a historical context.
The Grand History Prize has been awarded since 1994. It has previously been awarded to, among others, Sven-Eric Liedman, Yvonne Hirdman, Dick Harrison, Olle Häger, and Henrik Berggren.
