Left Party MP Ilona Szatmári Waldau has praised and sent supportive messages to a terrorist on social media. She has since distanced herself from the posts, calling them a mistake.
The posts were part of a campaign in which several of the Left Party's members of parliament wrote letters of support to Palestinian prisoners, which Expressen was the first to reveal.
We have taken down all parts of this campaign. We should have handled this better. That is absolutely true, and therefore we will go through this very carefully and see what went wrong, party leader Nooshi Dadgostar says at a press conference ahead of the start of the Left Party's election tour.
Group leaders wrote letters of praise
The Left Party's parliamentary group leader, Samuel Gonzalez Westling, also wrote an open letter of support in December 2025, reports Kvartal . It was addressed to a Palestinian who was sentenced to life in prison in 1984 for kidnapping and murdering a 19-year-old Israeli conscript, according to the newspaper. The letter, which was published on social media, has since been deleted.

“A pattern”
Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) criticizes V after the revelation.
"The fact that it is repeatedly revealed that Left Party members celebrate terrorist acts, praise terrorist organizations and spread hatred and anti-Semitism is not a coincidence, but a pattern. Nooshi Dadgostar's apologies are meaningless if they do not lead to change in her own party," the Foreign Minister says in a written statement to TT.
Earlier this year, Expressen revealed that 25 Left Party candidates had expressed support for terrorist groups and praised dictatorships, mainly linked to the Israel-Palestine conflict. 22 of them have since been removed from the party's ballot or voluntarily dropped out.
