Västervik's place in the final was practically secured even before Tuesday night's semi-final second leg. The big away win (54–36) against the Indians was never threatened, as expected, and after 43–41 at home, the reigning Swedish champions were able to celebrate reaching yet another SM final.
All the more excitement in Eskilstuna, where it was completely level (45–45) after last week's semi-final in Målilla. Even before the 15th and final heat, the tie was still open, with visiting Dackarna leading by four points.
Smederna needed a five-pointer to keep the match alive, but only managed a 3–3 heat. Dackarna won 47–43 and sent last year's finalists Smederna on their summer break.
The first Swedish Championship final will be played on September 15, with the decisive return match a week later.
