21-year-old D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has previously been questioned in the investigation into the murder and has now been arrested, the police said on Friday night local time in Sweden.
The girl's remains were found in the trunk of a car registered to Burke, who was on tour when the discovery was made in September last year. The car was apparently abandoned and was about to be towed away when workers noticed a strong odor coming from the car's trunk, Rolling Stone reports.
The girl found in the car had been missing since 2024 and is estimated to have been 14 years old at the time of the murder.
The police will hand over the case to the prosecutor's office on Monday for a decision on possible charges.
