The Czech Republic suffered a shocking defeat against the Faroe Islands in the World Championship qualification. Now, the Czech Football Association announces that national team manager Ivan Hašek is being fired.

Sunday's 1–2 loss is the biggest upset for Czech Republic since the 0–1 loss to Luxembourg 20 years ago.

The fiasco also became the drop that made the association's chairman, David Trunda, resign.

We have terminated the cooperation with Ivan Hašek from today (Wednesday), says Trunda and states that the national team will be led by an interim coach for the rest of the qualification.

Czech Republic is second in its World Championship qualification group, three points behind Croatia, which has one match less played.

The Faroe Islands, with its 50,000 inhabitants, is third in the group and must win against Croatia at the same time as Czech Republic loses to Gibraltar to reach the playoff for the World Championship.
