I wish the tech billionaires could realize that they are part of society, that they are not above it, she tells TT.
Cynthia Nixon, best known as Miranda in "Sex and the City" and its successor, "And Just Like That...", is also a political activist. She has been arrested and taken away during demonstrations against the Trump administration and its policies. Ahead of the interview with her, it is clear that the organizers are wary of a political discussion: they have instructed reporters to "concentrate the questions on the series, refrain from politics".
Not just greedy
But that does not stop Nixon. She believes that the billionaires depicted in the series were not just greedy.
The robber barons were not heroes, but they left behind much that we can enjoy today - museums, concert halls, libraries, things that made society better.
Today we live in a time when the few at the top have so much wealth that they do not know what to do with it. This is happening at a time when many people do not have enough to survive. The situation is very difficult for the majority of people and we must bring about changes through the power of society.

In “The Gilded Age”, which is now entering its fourth season, she plays Ada Forte, who lives with her sister Agnes in a magnificent house in New York. Agnes used to make all the decisions, but Ada has become rich and is now the one with the power in the household.
The love of her life
Cynthia Nixon describes her as a woman who almost refrained from marrying the love of her life because it would have upset her sister.
Now she has found her strength. She was loved by someone she loved herself, someone who chose her at a time in her life when she thought she was past everything, says Nixon.
It is satisfying, she says. Also because none of the characters in “The Gilded Age” are perfect.
Ada is not perfect. Even though she has now found her voice, she makes mistakes. That is the breeding ground for comedy.
There is so much happening around Ada this season. She is starting to learn about worlds right next door that she didn't know existed. Ada has always been curious and is willing to learn.
