"Wicked" actress Cynthia Erivo is to play Jesus in a new production of "Jesus Christ Superstar".
The Oscar-nominated Broadway star is to take on the title role in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, writes the organizer on Instagram.
In the production, with Tony Award winner Sergio Trujillo as director and choreographer and Stephen Oremus as musical leader and conductor, the musical is reportedly going to "return to its rock roots".
Jesus Christ Superstar premieres on August 1.
