A man in his 70s has died after an accident with a bicycle on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm.

The accident occurred on Monday evening, when a motorcyclist collided with a cyclist in his 70s at an intersection. Both people were taken to hospital, but the cyclist's life could not be saved.

The motorcyclist is also being cared for at the hospital, but without life-threatening injuries.

According to witness statements, the motorcyclist is said to have driven through a red light, so we have initiated a preliminary investigation into gross negligence in traffic and causing bodily harm, said the police's press spokesperson Rebecca Landberg on Monday evening.
