Pro-Palestinian demonstrations during the classic cycling competition Tour of Spain. Then the Israel-based team Israel-Premier Tech was stopped from the one-day competition in Italy. Now the team chooses to change its name and remove "Israel".

”With an unwavering commitment to our cyclists, employees and valuable partners, we have decided to give the team a new name that moves away from the current Israeli identity”, the team writes on its website,

”In sports, one often has to sacrifice something to succeed, and this step up is crucial to secure the team's future.”

During the Tour of Spain, the competition was disrupted by pro-Palestinian demonstrations on several occasions. A few stages could not be completed as planned and several cyclists crashed when demonstrators ended up on the road.

Last year, superstar Tadej Pogacar, Slovenia, won the road race Giro dell'Emilia – a one-day competition that the team was stopped from driving.
