The trend is clearly going upwards in both performing arts, live music and sports.

Between 2011 and December 2019, sports and cultural events experienced a strong growth, with a steady increase in both turnover and employment.

After a significant decline during the pandemic, the industry has now recovered and is at a level with the development that would have been expected if the growth from 2011 had continued without the pandemic's interruption.

The number of events has increased by 68 percent between 2019, i.e. before the outbreak of the pandemic, and 2024. During the same period, the number of tickets sold has risen by 16 percent – from 22.6 million to 26.1 million.

Performing arts, live music and sports events today have a turnover of over 78 billion kronor, generate a value added of 34 billion and employ over 140,000 people.
