The announcement comes in the shadow of recurring threats from US President Donald Trump about efforts to overthrow the regime in Cuba.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry's head of relations with the United States, Alejandro García, told the official communist newspaper Granma that a delegation had visited Cuba, without specifying the date or commenting on the content of the talks.
However, García denies previous media reports that demands have been made for the release of certain political prisoners.
No threats or time-bound demands were made, he says.
At the same time, García points out that the most important issue for Cuba concerns the US trade blockade.
