Arsenal are through to the semi-finals of the League Cup - but only after penalties. Maxence Lacroix was the scapegoat for Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals.

Arsenal took the lead from a corner in the 80th minute, when Maxence Lacroix was unlucky and scored an own goal. But Crystal Palace rose in the fifth minute of added time when Marc Guéhi - Lacroix's fellow defender - made it 1–1 and took the match to penalties.

In the penalty shootout, the shooters were rock solid until the eighth round, when Lacroix missed for Crystal Palace in a match he would probably prefer to forget.

Viktor Gyökeres, the match winner against Everton in the league this weekend, was rested and watched the entire match from Arsenal's substitute bench.

The semi-finals of the League Cup will be played in double matches, January 13 and February 5: Chelsea - Arsenal and Manchester City - Newcastle.
