In his emotional acceptance speech, 63-year-old Cruise recounted how his love for film began at an early age.
"I was just a little kid in a dark movie theater. It opened my eyes," he said, continuing:
Film is not just what I do. Film is who I am.
Tom Cruise accepted the statuette from filmmaker Alejandro G Iñárritu, who is directing him in an upcoming, yet-to-be-titled film that will premiere in the fall of 2026.
In addition to Cruise, choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas also received honorary Oscars.
