The government's highly anticipated film bill will be presented this spring, culture minister Parisa Liljestrand (M) told TT.

A struggling Swedish film industry is calling for dialogue with politicians. The fact that the Minister of Culture instead chose to snub both the Guldbagge Awards and the Gothenburg Film Festival has sparked strong reactions.

Parisa Liljestrand reiterates in a comment to TT that she "had to prioritize other commitments." Intensive work is underway to develop a new film policy, she adds.

"I look forward to presenting the government's film policy proposal to the industry later this spring."

Last year, the state film inquiry presented proposals that included reduced VAT on cinema tickets and a fund to support Swedish film production, partly financed by a fee from streaming companies.
