Swedish aid money has gone to the Palestinian organization ICHR, which has connections to Hamas, which is labeled a terrorist organization, Benjamin Dousa (M) stated on Friday. The organization itself denies the accusation, writes Dagens Nyheter.

"To say that we have links to Hamas is absurd. No money has left our organization. We have never given money to Hamas or anyone else," Ammar Dwaik, director general of the ICHR, told the newspaper.

According to Dousa, the money was used by Hamas, among other things, to train police officers - information that Dwaik denies.

Hamas holds prisoners in Gaza. We have therefore trained police officers in Gaza in how to uphold human rights in prisons. It is not about "Hamas police officers", it is about police officers employed in Gaza, whose authorities are controlled by Hamas, he tells DN.

He describes the organization as politically non-aligned and says it works for Palestinians and no one else.

We are in Gaza, and Hamas is the de facto ruler of Gaza. It is impossible to be there without having contact with the authorities.
