"If action plans do not contain activities that correspond to the job seeker's need for support, the risk of long-term unemployment increases," says Cathrine Carlberg, who heads the review unit at IAF, in a press release.
In a separate report, the IAF notes that the Swedish Public Employment Service is too slow in sending notifications when job seekers have not applied for the jobs they have been assigned.
"When notifications are not sent quickly, it means that a possible decision regarding a warning or suspension from compensation (from the unemployment insurance fund) is made long after the sanction-based event," writes the IAF.
