The conflict appears to have started when Ronaldo was benched for last week’s Nations League match against Norway. After being told he would also not start Wednesday’s match against Denmark, he chose to leave the squad altogether.
Despite the dispute, national team coach Jesus has not closed the door on the 41-year-old.
“For me, Cris, at the next national team selection, if he is playing for Al-Nassr, he is a player who can be called up. If he wants, he will return to the national team,” Jesus says, according to AFP.
The team has won its Nations League matches and qualified for the playoffs with Sunday night’s victory over Norway.
