Cristiano Ronaldo Fined €255 and Given 30-Day Portugal Suspension After Leaving Squad

Cristiano Ronaldo has now received his punishment for leaving the Portugal squad recently.

The fine is unlikely to hurt the 41-year-old superstar’s wallet. According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Ronaldo will be fined 255 euros, equivalent to just over 2,800 kronor. He will also be suspended from the national team for 30 days.

But the suspension is effective from the date Ronaldo left the national team camp, September 30, meaning he will not miss any international matches. Portugal’s next match is on November 14 against Denmark in the Nations League.

Ronaldo left the national team squad after being benched for the entire away match against Norway in the Nations League, even though two matches remained.

A few days later, he issued a statement attacking national team captain Jorge Jesus, whom he felt had betrayed him.
