"In Anton, we have found a coach we want to build on in the long term and his leadership is something we feel safe with", says new sports manager Björn Liljander in a press release.
Anton Blomqvist came to the club from HockeyAllsvenskan AIK last summer and then signed a two-year contract.
Not even a year into the contract, the club chooses to extend with an additional two years, until 2028.
"His passion, commitment, and hockey competence have made us develop for the better in many areas since Anton came to HV71. Therefore, it is important that we continue the journey that has begun", says Liljander.
HV71 is second to last in SHL, one point below the relegation line, but has an upward trend with two straight wins.
The Jönköping team was forced to qualify to stay up last season and has in recent years made itself known as a club that consumes coaches in bulk.
Over the past seven years, HV71 has changed coaches seven times.
"It feels very enjoyable to get to be part of shaping what HV71 will be in the future and I think the association has started something good. I feel that we have begun to find an identity both on and off the ice that we can build on", says Blomqvist.
